In the African Bwiti tradition, Iboga is often shared during special all-night Bwiti ceremonies featuring music and dance, known as “Ngozé”. These are very special occasions that offer an opportunity to connect more deeply with yourself through the Iboga medicine, dance, music and rituals.
There is no fixed limit on the number of participants. In Africa, you can experience ceremonies attended by more than 100 people. Each participant receives only a small dose of Iboga (usually one teaspoon), which is intended to sustain an all-night trance-like flow.
Our Ngozé ceremonies are open to anyone interested in learning about the Iboga medicine (the amount you receive is a larger microdose), as well as to those who wish to discover the spiritual tradition of Bwiti.
What happens during our Ngozé ceremony?
First, we explain the necessary organisational details.
We begin at around 8 p.m. and finish at approximately 6 a.m.
The entire night follows a specific sequence of songs, rituals and dances. Activities include, for example, ecstatic dancing to the sound of drums, prayer and moments of stillness, as well as songs and dances accompanied by the sacred Ngomo harp—and much more.
You are welcome to join in the shared rituals, songs, prayers and dances.
